Frank Kiely’s Dublin work is inspired by the early writings of James Joyce, and the questions Joyce poses of life in the capital city. These are questions Kiely wrestles within himself; love, adventure, ageing, betrayal and death. For Kiely ambiguity is the only answer.
He sees these themes reoccurring in his Irish life: in his family and friends. His work is not exclusively Dublin-centric but includes works from other faces in other places, Galway London and Irish fiction and folklore.
